As I left home in the pouring rain just as dawn was breaking I wondered
if I had made the right decision of accepting your kind offer to bring
some of my team from the Outdoor Education Unit to experience Learn2Sail
first hand.

However, with the rain stopping as we got on board Kestrel, we began a
great day that was enjoyed thoroughly by all of us, including my
daughter Claire who was very keen to see how different sailing a yacht
was to the dinghies that she normally sails. I am certain that it will
be one of those happy memorable experiences that will stay with her for
a very long time and will probably inspire her to do more when she gets
to Southampton Uni.

Having been involved in a coaching a variety of adventurous activities
throughout my career, and having managed Outdoor Education Centres for
many years where dinghy sailing was a principal activity, I was very
impressed with the professional service and relaxed approach from start
to end, an approach which certainly brought out the best in all of us.

As I say an excellent day, beginning with the very welcome egg and bacon
rolls soon after we arrived, followed a little later by a close up look
at some local wildlife (the seal swimming by) and then to complete the
additional attractions, the low ‘fly past’ by none other than the Red
Arrows. I don’t know how you organised it, but all very impressive – and
I thought that Learn2Sail only organised sailing opportunities and
experiences!

Thanks also to your daughters who looked after us very well and stepped
in at precisely the right time to assist with sailing the boat, but then
slipped away into the background when all was back in control, again
giving us all that feeling that we were doing OK.

Thank you once again. I am sure that your very friendly, supportive and
professional approach along with your clear enthusiasm will mean that
Learn2Sail will continue to go from strength to strength whether it is
sail training in Ramsgate or at your base in Portugal.

Just wanted to pass on my gratitude for such a brilliant day yesterday
with you guys.

It was so good to see the all-too-common bravado ease off as the reality
of the situation sunk in, as well as the teamwork, humour, and respect
they showed… it was all fantastic to see.

You were both excellent with the group, patient and allowing them to get
as involved as they wanted to, empowering them no end.

It was a fantastic opportunity for them (and us staff) and it ticked
every box regarding reward, challenge and fun. They were buzzing about
it afterwards despite a bit of nausea, so thank you so very much.
